Georgia Democrats held their state convention on Saturday. This was my first convention as a Georgia delegate. I have been a delegate in Virginia a number of times so I kind of knew what to expect.

As has been the norm for the last few election cycles, the platform was very generic. The only controversy of the day was a resolution supporting  3 former Democratic governors that have recently passed away. During the report from the resolutions cmte chair, a delegate yelled out his displeaser with Gov. Maddox being included in the resolution. Not being from GA, I turned to a fellow delegate who filled me in on Maddox's antics with a pick-axe handle and his steadfast support of segregation. The first picture is GDP Chairman Kahn trying to get a ruling on the up or down vote. The second is the resolutions cmte meeting. The resolutions were sent back to committee and presented again a little later without that resolution.

I was up front taking pictures and can honestly say the most excitement was for the congressional candidates. People are really fired up about the federal races. All of the candidated did a great job up on stage. Hank Johnson was late and had to go on stage by himself.  He appeard to be a little nervous. I can't blame him since quite a few of the delegates from his 4th district gave him the cold shoulder.

Of course I am partial to Allan Burns, who is running in my District, GA-7.

Mark Taylor trotted out a new stump speech and Jim Martin hit the Faith, Family and Patriotism note.
